Why Certification Matters

Here’s why:
The ALD Standard Certification program is peer-reviewed, has digital and in-person components, and provides hands-on training by seasoned clinicians. The comprehensive nature of this laser certificate course is designed for the entire dental team, and dental schools for 3rd and 4th year dental students and postdocs. The examination is psychometrically validated and reviewed every three years. ALD Certification comes with a 1-year ALD membership with access to videos, safety refreshers, and a host of benefits to boost any dental practice.

Dentists and hygienists who complete ALD’s Certificate Program are better grounded in the foundational knowledge to guide their clinical decisions when treating patients.

ALD’s Dental Laser Standard Level Course

ALD certification is a professional certificate program that ALD offers to individuals who aim to demonstrate knowledge and experience in standard and advanced aspects of lasers in dentistry. These programs allow individuals to be recognized as a skilled professionals in laser dentistry. Completing an ALD certification program helps you differentiate yourself from competitors, attract new patients, increase treatment plan acceptance, and improve patient and team satisfaction. A strong foundational knowledge of lasers and light- based technologies adds to improved clinical case outcomes and overall patient satisfaction. Your clear understanding will increase your return on investment (ROI).

HOW IT WORKS: 3 STEP PROCESS

Why Certify Steps

STEP 1 - FOUNDATIONS IN LASER DENTISTRY

Complete the online self-paced program that includes five didactic modules and is administered entirely online. The participant needs to  successfully complete an assessment after each module to proceed to the next chapter.

The 5 foundational modules are:
  • Fundamentals of Light
  • Production of Light
  • Laser-Tissue and Laser Material Interactions
  • Clinical Applications in  Laser Dentistry
  • Laser Safety in Dentistry
Educational Objectives
This online course allows the  learner to proceed at their own pace with the ability to go back to any desired module to enhance understanding.
Upon  the completion of this online course, the learners will be able to:
  1. Recognize basic principles of laser dentistry and its clinical application
  2. Identify various types of lasers and their interactions with biological tissues
  3. Integrate lasers into the dental practice within their scope of practice.
  4. Apply laser safety protocols in everyday clinical practice

STEP 2 - HANDS-ON WORKSHOP

Once the online module is completed, the participants qualify to complete phase II, the hands-on portion of the  training. This phase can be arranged by ALD or your education team of leaders to ensure the appropriate clinical education for a certificate program.

STEP 3 - ONLINE EXAM

Once step 2 is completed,  participants are qualified to take the online exam to complete the ALD  laser certificate program.
