The intent of this course is to give you the knowledge and skills to practice with lasers competently.
During the program, you will:
• Learn basic laser physics as it relates to the practice of dentistry.
• Understand the nature of the light spectrum and laser wavelengths.
• Gain a working knowledge of laser emission modes relating to laser tissue interaction.
• Learn diagnostic and therapeutic applications for soft/hard tissue lasers.
• Compare laser, blade and electrosurgery wounds and assess and compare healing.
• Acquire knowledge of a CO2 laser set-up, delivery system, power settings, and protocols.
• Gain hands-on experience and know techniques for dental laser surgery.
• Learn laser classifications and laser regulatory agencies.
• Gain a working knowledge of laser safety and infection control for the dental practice.
• Learn how to integrate laser dentistry into your practice.
• Be taught scientific principles to select the correct dental laser for your practice.
• Have the economics of laser dentistry determined for your practice.
• Achieve the knowledge level of Category II for the Academy of Laser Dentistry.
