www.laserdentistry.org is the web site of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD) and is dedicated to the advancement and education of lasers in dentistry. ALD respects the privacy of our members and other users of our web site. This Privacy Policy addresses our use of information about you collected by virtue of your use of laserdentistry.org.

ALD knows that you value your privacy, and we appreciate the trust in giving us your information, including mailing and e-mail addresses, so that we might provide useful services and better communicate with you about news and events going on with ALD. The organization has a strict policy that any information we receive will not be sold, rented or shared with any outside company or organization without your permission, except as provided herein.
From time to time, we may amend this Privacy Policy by posting it to the Website and changing the date on this page noting when it was last updated. Your continued use of the Website following the posting of any changes shall constitute your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

Information We May Collect About You

We collect two types of information:

1. Non-personally identifiable information (Non-PII) for everyone who visits our Website
2. Personally identifiable information (PII) for registered members.

PII. Information provided by you in connection with the registration process includes the information that will be listed on Public Member Directory (such as the Dentist name, address, education, and certification level) and your transactional history (including online courses, certification and purchases).

Non-PII Web Site Usage Information. For each visitor to our Web site, our Web server automatically recognizes only the user's domain name, but not the e-mail address (where possible). We collect the domain name and internet protocol (IP) address of visitors to our Web site, aggregate information on what pages users access or visit, user-specific information on what pages users access or visit, and information volunteered by users, including from surveys, purchases and/or registrations. We also may collect the e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via e-mail.

Cookies, IP Addresses and Logs. We employ "cookies" to collect information about you and your usage of the Website. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your computer and collects information about how you use our site. We also gather information about your individual use of our services, such as types of data accessed, times and volume of use, duration of sessions and other similar usage or system data. If you are not logged into our site but are browsing the site's public areas, we log IP addresses and domain names. We cannot use this technical Non-PII to identify you personally.

How We May Use Information We Collect

PII. We use PII to facilitate your use of website features that require membership registration, including  the Public Membership Directory and the tracking or membership renewals, courses and certification. ALD may use your contact information to alert you to new information, products and services, events and other opportunities. From time to time, we may also make your contact information available to other reputable organizations whose products or services we think you might find interesting following ALD strict mailing list policies. We have instituted opt-out capabilities to ensure that you do not receive unwanted communication.

Non-PII. Non-PII is aggregated for system administration and to monitor the Website's usage. It is utilized to measure the number of visits to our site, average time spent, number of pages viewed and to monitor various other site statistics. This monitoring helps us evaluate how visitors use and navigate our site so we can improve the content.

How We Share Your Information - Mailing List Policy

Unless you choose to opt-out, certain of your Membership information may be shared as part of a mailing list under the following restrictions:

• ALD will include the following member data: Name of healthcare provider or corporate member; practice address; phone number; fax number; E-mail address; web site.
• The individual or corporation requesting the use of the mailing list must submit in writing the purpose for which the list is to be used. Samples of the material being mailed will be sent to the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Applicants must agree that the list will be used only for transferring the materials that are pre-approved by ALD.
• The list may be provided electronically or by providing pre-printed labels or both.
• The applicable fee must be paid in advance.
• Limited Use: Any individual or corporation purchasing the list can use it as needed within a 6-month window of that purchase. Use of the list after the 6-month cut-off will require an additional fee and approval of materials.
• The individual or corporation receiving a list must guarantee in writing that they will not distribute the list to other organizations or individuals, even those who are members of ALD.
• Occasionally ALD makes mailing lists available to other dental organizations or corporations on a special request basis.

Opt-Out Feature

Members may elect to opt-out at the time of registration or at any time via the Member's Login/Config/Settings for any 3rd party sharing of the mailing list data and/or being listed in the Public Member Directory.

How is My Information Protected?

We take reasonable steps to protect the confidentiality of your PII, including physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards as required by law. All financial transactions, member login areas and administrative access are used and accessed only through SSL protocols. No tracking cookies are placed in users computers. We continually review our security procedures and mechanisms to ensure that reasonable protections are in place.

The Website may provide links to third-party sites that are not under our control. These links are provided as a convenience, but we are not responsible for the privacy practices, security or content of such third-party sites and you should be aware that when you click on those links you are no longer covered under this Privacy Policy.

Note: Health information you may share via www.laserdentistry.org is neither private nor confidential and should be shared, if at all, only in accordance with applicable laws.
