Academy
of Laser Dentistry Honors Leaders in Lasers in Dentistry During
Annual Awards Ceremony
On March 6, 2004 The Academy’s of Laser Dentistry
Annual Awards Ceremony honored leaders in the field
of laser dentistry. The ceremony marked the final exercise
of Source 2004:Lasers in Dentistry, the organization’s
11th Annual Conference and Exhibition held at the Renaissance
Esmeralda in Palm Springs, California.
The Academy’s Leon Goldman Award presented for
clinical excellence was presented to Dr.
Gabi Kesler. Dr. Kesler is in private general practice
in Petach Tikva, Israel. Dr. Kesler joins
past recipients Dr. Kim Kutsch in 1993, Dr. Robert Pick in
1995, Dr. Steven Parker in 1998; Dr. Robert Barr and Dr. Donald
Coluzzi in 1999; Dr. Janet Hatcher Rice in 2000; Ms. Nora
M. Raffetto, RDH in 2001 and Dr Duane Beers in 2002 in this
esteemed group.
The
Academy’s Distinguished Service Award presented
for outstanding commitment and contribution to the Academy
was presented to Dr. Tony Hewlett, who has
served the Academy on the Board of Directors for six years
and as chairman of membership for eight years. Dr. Hewlett
is in private general practice in Stanwood, Washington.Dr.
Hewlett is a graduate of the University of Washington, School
of Dentistry, Seattle, Washington. Past recipients are: Dr.
Stewart Rosenberg in 1993; Dr. Scott Brundrett in 1995; Mr.
John Sulewski in 1996; University of California, San Francisco
in 1997; Dr. David M. Roshkind in 1998; Dr. Alan J. Goldstein
in 1999; Dr. William Siminovsky in 2000; Dr. Stuart Coleton
in 2002; and Dr Donald Patthoff in 2003.
The President’s Award was presented to Dr. Alan Goldstein in appreciation of his devoted leadership as president during 2003. Alan J. Goldstein,
DMD is an active member of the Academy since 1993. Dr. Goldstein
is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania and is in private
general practice in New York City. Dr. Goldstein is the previous
editor of the Academy’s official scientific quarterly
journal, Wavelengths. In 1999, Dr. Goldstein received the
Academy’s Distinguished Service Award.
The Academy of Laser Dentistry continues its dedication to
improving the health and well-being of patients through the
proper use of laser technology. The Academy actively supports
education and research through its certification programs,
publications, meetings and additional activities. The Academy
recognizes the efforts of these individuals and is grateful
for their dedication to laser education and their commitment
to the Academy.
